Meet INKY
INKY is a study partner that refuses to do your homework. It asks what you have tried, works the problem beside you, and remembers what you are bad at so it can bring it back later. It is a small yellow squid with opinions about your study habits.
Pick a colour
It is a chat, and it argues with you
You type a question. INKY types back. The difference is what it types: it asks what you already think before it explains anything, tells you which part of your half-right guess was actually right, and makes you do a step before it moves on.
Press Next and watch a real one play out. The quiz at the end is live, so get it wrong on purpose and see what it says.
- Asks before it tells
- Names what you got right first
- Checks you understood before moving on
- Turns your mistakes into flashcards

What INKY actually does
Every one of these is built and running in our classrooms today. The waitlist is for opening it up outside them.
Draws the thing it is explaining
When a picture helps, INKY draws one. The maths behind these is our code with exact derivatives, not something the model worked out, so it can pick the diagram but it cannot teach you a wrong one.
y = x² · slope at x = -0.7 is -1.4
Never just hands you the answer
It works the problem with you and names what you already got right before it touches what you got wrong.
Remembers what you know
Mastery per concept, not clicks. Come back in three weeks and it still knows the thing you kept slipping on.
Brings the card back at the right time
Flashcards schedule themselves with spaced repetition, so you see something just before you would have forgotten it.
Tells you exactly what to drill
Finish a practice test and get a per-concept breakdown. One tap turns your misses into the next round.
Changes hats
Writing coach that critiques instead of rewriting. Debate partner. Historical figure. Code reviewer.
Built for a classroom
Teachers see what students are working on, work binds to real assignments, and the guardrails are built for under eighteens.
The whole point
It will not write your essay, and that is the feature
Anything can hand a student an answer. We teach AI ethics for a living, so building a tool that does your thinking for you would be a strange way to spend our time. INKY withholds the answer on purpose, asks you what you have tried, and tells you when you are closer than you think.
Why a squid
Every tutor we had ever used wanted to hand us the answer. So when we drew ours, we gave it no mouth.
INKY cannot tell you what to write. It has eyes and nothing else, so all it can do is look at your work, look at you, and wait. Everything it thinks comes through those eyes: narrowed when you are close, wide when you try something bold, both of them shut in delight when you get there without being told.
Then we made it a squid. When a squid is in trouble, it squirts a cloud of ink and disappears inside it. A lot of AI works the same way: a confident answer, a cloud of words, and no way to see what is behind them. INKY is the squid that refuses to hide. It keeps its ink for writing, and it clears the cloud instead of making one.
There is an older reason too. A squid carries a stiff shell inside its body called a pen, and the word calamari comes from the Latin for a pen case. People have thought of squid as a pen and an inkpot for a very long time. A pen has never done anybody's homework, and neither will a small squid with opinions about your study habits.
We made it out of pixels because pixels are honest. Every square is visible, nothing is blurred or smoothed over, and you can count exactly what the thing is made of. That felt like the right way for something teaching AI ethics to look.
Look closely and you will notice INKY has never once said a word. That is not a limitation we are working around. It is the entire point.
