What is an AI Day?
It's a session at your school, run by a student, where people learn how AI works and then argue about how it should be used. It can be one lunch period or a whole afternoon. You don't need a club, a budget, or any AI experience.
At lunch
15 people, one lesson
Play the deepfakes lesson in a classroom, talk about it, then vote on one question. Done in 40 minutes.
After school
A club meeting
Your AI or debate club runs the kickoff and a lesson, then splits into two sides and argues a real AI question.
During class
A teacher gives you a period
You present the kickoff slides to a class, play a lesson, and everyone leaves with the free course link.
What people leave knowing
- How AI actually works, in plain words
- How to spot a deepfake or a made-up answer
- When using AI on schoolwork crosses a line
- What happens to the data you give AI

Students
Start an AI Day at your school
You don't need to be an expert or have a club yet. Apply, have a quick call with us, and run it whenever works for you.

Use it in your class
Run an AI Day in your own class. Each lesson has a short video and discussion questions, and most have a worksheet and teacher guide.

Run it as a club meeting
Keep your club's name and officers. An AI Day is just something you run once a semester. Debate teams already have most of the skills it needs.

How it works
- 1
Apply
It takes five minutes. No teacher signature or essay. Tell us your school and about when you'd like to do it.
- 2
Have a 20 minute call
We pick a date together and decide how big to go. You leave with a plan.
- 3
Run your AI Day
Use the kit, and ask in our Discord if anything comes up. Afterward, post a recap in the AI Day forum and you become a chapter lead.
What a session looks like
Four parts. Do them all at once, or split them up, like one part after school each week. Use whatever fits.
Part 1 · 20 to 30 min
Kick it off
Present the kickoff slides: what AI is, how a chatbot works, and where AI already shows up in students' lives.
Part 2 · 45 min
Teach a lesson
Play one Ethics Lab lesson, like deepfakes, cheating with AI, privacy, or AI and art, then talk it through.
Part 3 · 30 to 45 min
Bring in a guest
Invite someone who works with AI: a researcher, a lawyer, a teacher. We'll help you find one, and if nobody's free, one of us will join by video.
Part 4 · 30 min
Debate it
Pick a real question about AI and have students argue both sides. End by showing the QR code for the free course.
Kids built this
Started by high schoolers. Shaped by the chapters running it.
The Ethics Lab was started by students who noticed nobody at school was teaching them about AI. Students who run AI Days tell us what works in a real classroom, so you help decide what we teach next. Pitch a lesson or write for the blog, and your name goes on it.
For teachers
Run one in your class
AI Days are usually run by students, but teachers can run one too. Tell us a little about your class and we'll email you the kit and help you plan it. If you'd rather a student lead it, we can help you find one.
Want the full course with classes and a gradebook? Bring it to your school.
Questions
- Does it have to be a whole day?
- No. Run it during class, at lunch, after school, or as a club meeting. One part counts. Whatever works at your school.
- Do I need a teacher to sponsor it?
- Usually, because an adult has to book the room. You don't need one to apply. The starter packet has an email you can send a teacher.
- Do I need to know anything about AI?
- No. The slides have speaker notes, and you can take the course yourself first.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. There's no fee, no minimum size, and no quota.
- Is there a set date?
- No. Every school's calendar is different, so you pick the day. Most people avoid exam weeks.
